Important information on US-made liquor products

Due to a high volume of comments, questions and support, we unfortunately cannot respond to every message about the US tariff response. Below are answers to the most common questions and suggestions we receive.

In response to American tariffs against Canadian exports to the United States, the Province of Manitoba has stopped selling US-made liquor.

Given our highly integrated economies, some American brands sold here are not US-made – some are in fact made in Canada. Products made outside of the USA remain on our shelves, protecting the jobs and economies in the non-American communities where they are produced.

Some customers would like to see even more products removed from our shelves. We respect your views. Choosing not to buy something remains an important and effective option available to you. Our staff welcome the opportunity to show you alternative products.

Quick facts:

• If you would like to see a particular product in Manitoba, please contact the producer and encourage them to submit their product for listing at mbllpartners.ca.
• Manitoba Liquor Marts are a strong supporter of Manitoban and Canadian products. We anticipate bringing even more of these products to our shelves.
• Licensed restaurants, vendors and other private businesses may continue selling US-made liquor that they already have in stock. They are unable to replenish this stock from MBLL.
• US-made liquor cannot be special ordered.
• Removing affected products from all stores is a complicated matter to do safely and efficiently – both at the store and on the other end at our distribution centre. You may see some shelves covered to indicate which products are not for sale while we work through this process.
